Shipping

Quick query...Does anyone have experience shipping a bike back to the US (or other country for that matter)?
Is it worth it?
Could I just pack it up and put it in the mail? Or is it better to check an extra package at the airport?
If I mail it is the cost exorbitant?

Thanks!

the best way to ship a bike is as luggage with you on a flight. some airlines charge, some don't. shipping bikes can be pricey depending on the size of the package. some carriers charge for a calculated weight if the package is over a certain size, so even if you are buying a lightweight carbon road bike or something you will end up paying quite a bit for shipping.

Before your send out the bike, becareful disassemble and pack the bike. I broke my crank while transport from HK to Singapore by CX airline.

Thanks for the info. Also, Do I need to have a receipt for anything I take out of the country? i.e. an extra frame w/ some parts for a fixie i never got around to finishing, or a used roadbike that I bought? No receipts for any of it, will it be a problem?
